What should you actually charge?
Most nail and lash artists set prices from what the salon down the road charges. This works it out from your own numbers instead — your time, your products, your overhead — and shows the price that leaves you with the hourly rate you wanted.
To earn €35/hr after €8 in products and travel, charge at least €78.

Common questions
- How is the recommended price worked out?
- We add your product and travel costs to what your time is worth at your target hourly rate, then add a share of your monthly overhead. That is your break-even. Card processing fees are then added on top, because a fee is taken from the price you charge, not from what is left.
- What if I do not know my overhead?
- We use nothing. The overhead term simply drops out of the sum, so the break-even figure is your real costs and nothing guessed at. It is still worth working out the real number, because rent and insurance have a habit of being larger than we assume.
- Does this work for lashes as well as nails?
- Yes. The maths is about time and materials, not the treatment. Lash artists usually have lower product costs and longer appointments, and both of those are inputs here.
